National Mentoring Month

Happy Mentor Month! January is National Mentoring Month, an opportunity to recognize the power of one-on-one relationships to influence your life and help you pursue your dreams. At the University of Georgia, we are celebrating all month long with an emphasis on these special dates:

I am a UGA Mentor Day – January 6 This is a day to celebrate our amazing UGA mentors. Please take a moment to reach out and let your mentor(s) know how much you appreciate them. And, whether or not you’re currently paired, let’s flood social with messages acknowledging the generosity of our alumni who have volunteered to serve as UGA mentors. International Day of Mentoring – January 17 Internationally, this day honors Muhammad Ali’s birthday on January 17 in recognition of his six core principles (confidence, conviction, dedication, respect, giving and spirituality), which apply so well to mentoring relationships. It just so happens that this year, the date falls on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service – January 17 Today is a day to honor the memory of Dr. MLK Jr. and elevate the spirit of service through volunteerism. If you have a mentor, this is a good day to reach out and share your experiences. Maybe you can bond over a cause you both believe in. Explore volunteer opportunities from Engage GA.

I am a UGA Mentee Day – January 25 Today, we celebrate you, our UGA mentees. We applaud you for taking the step to sign up for the program and take advantage of this priceless opportunity to expand your network and form meaningful relationships.
